To Marcus, the definition of an entrepreneur is one who has a mission, a focus, and a passion to explore and create and has a drive to succeed. An entrepreneur is one who is strong-willed, yet a good listener. An entrepreneur is one who embraces the saying, “if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again.”

Born in Kalamazoo, Michigan January 27, 1988, Marcus Whitmore or “Gold Dust” is a Public Relations major at Wayne State University and plans to continue his education on to Law School.

In 2007, Mr. Whitmore was selected to serve as President of Students for Barack Obama campaign recognized student organization on WSU campus. He impressed others with his commitment and dedication to the cause. He was very professional in his planning, very creative with his recruiting ideas, and a wonderful spokesperson for the campaign. Marcus single handedly lobbied Senator Carl Levin to visit Wayne State’s campus to campaign for himself and President Obama.

Through political organizing, fundraising and community service, Marcus continued to develop important leadership skills, allowing him to apply his education to real world situations. In addition, Marcus has developed into a tremendous student leader. He is a contributing editor to the publication of the Center for the Chicano-Boricua Studies biannual newsletter, entitled Onda Latina at Wayne State University.

Marcus’s is the content manager and Wayne State University Rep for FrontStreet Records/IMG. His job includes but is not limited to editorial writing and publishing press releases. At WSU, Marcus is responsible for getting involved with press, student organizations and keeping FSR a staple in campus life.
